Bermello Ajamil and Partners Selected Projects

Four Seasons Hotel & Tower – Miami, Florida

The tallest building in the Southeast of the US is the Four Seasons Hotel & Tower. Which combines a five-star hotel with opulent residential condominiums, timeshare units, a fitness center, and Class A office space. The parking garage is enclosed by a low-rise podium made of stone and pre-cast panels, while the Tower is covered in a glass and metal skin. While housing retail spaces that enliven the neighborhood, the base serves as an elevated ground plane.

While the extraordinary Club and Spa sets a new standard for spaciousness, a 65,000 S.F. roof terrace with a pool and gardens created by renowned landscape architect Dan Kiley offers magnificent private spaces for relaxing and socializing. Residents have access to a lounge, elevators, and a private entrance.

Great Stirrup Cay – Berry Islands, Bahamas

Norwegian Cruise Line owns a 280-acre private island in the Bahamas called Great Stirrup Cay. BA put together a team to evaluate the island’s infrastructure, operations, and visitor experience in order to provide a comprehensive plan for the future. In order to improve the visitor experience, BA looked into a variety of fresh facilities, F&B establishments, and activities. The new plan featured a 20,000-square-foot commissary kitchen, a 5-acre solar farm. Island-wide bike trails, a dune buggy park, four pools totaling over 35,000 square feet of water surface with slides. A rockwork grotto cave bar/swim up bar, and coastal cabanas. The intention was to create facilities and events that highlight the upland’s natural beauty and the surrounding waters. This will enable visitors to fully experience the island of the Bahamas.

In terms of operations, the plan calls for the addition of two piers big enough to berth Breakaway Plus class ships. The renovation of all current infrastructure to handle the additional capacity, the construction of a 20,000 square foot commissary kitchen and F&B operation. Administration offices, roads, and sustainability measures like a 5-acre solar farm. The pools, back-of-house infrastructure, civil work, and cruise pier master plan and design were finished by BA. While the beach work was recently finished, in order for the piers to proceed, the BA team is still concentrating on environmental permitting. The island resort is able to grow and develop its facilities while taking into account all aspects of infrastructure sustainability and coastal resiliency.

Design services, concept development, master planning, planning, design, and construction administration are all included in BA’s purview. BA is in charge of interior design, landscape architecture, civil engineering, marine engineering, planning, and internal project management.

Selden Public Library – New York

BA’s innovative solution expands on technology first introduced in the main branch of this library system to automate material sorting and allow patrons to check out and return items themselves. In order to inspire wonder and creativity, BA also incorporated playful themes, shapes, and materials into the newly designed Children’s Reading Room and Activities Area.

The design team at BA was entrusted with creating conceptual alternatives and a planning and programming study for the Selden Public Library renovation, with the goal of providing the best possible working environment for both present and future users. The library has undergone two renovations, this one being the redesign. Constructed in 1986, the building underwent its initial renovation in 1999 with the aid of an alternative design team.

With the 2018 building renovation, the design team dealt with the client’s programmatic concerns and maintained and respected the eclectic approach of the previous renovation. The expansion and renovation of BA’s buildings maintain the same distinctive focus on materiality, industrial forms, and spatial organization.
