After many of you asked for Pati’s personal story, we decided that for our 2nd interview of 2021 we will be interviewing Pati, so that you can get a better sense of who she is! Pati will be interviewed by one of our lovely Architect-US family members and the Director of Partnerships, Pablo. Many of you know Pati already, but for those who do not, Pati is the Founder of Architect-US, but she also has a long career as an Architect in NYC, London, Paris and Madrid. From Madrid to London to New York City and back to Madrid, Pati has never been someone to turn down a new challenge, and she has focused her career towards helping Young Architects and Designers from around the world to find their career and their passions just as she did.

Pablo, our Director of Partnerships, will guide us through the interview with Pati, and cover topics ranging from her experience working with Sir Peter Cook at Crab Studio in London, her learnings from her time at Herzog & de Meuron, the big move to the big apple with HOK, as well as the difficulties and growing pains of creating a start-up while starting a family.

✅ Turning down an offer to study at prestigious American universities (Columbia, Berkley, IIT, UCLA, Pratt, …) to instead work at HOK in New York City
✅ Getting a job at one of the top 3 studios in the world during the financial crisis of 2010, and what her secret tricks and techniques are
✅ Getting an O1 Artist Visa when the HOK lawyer told Pati she only had a 10% chance of getting it approved!!
✅ At only 25 years old, Pati was already Studio Manager at Sir Peter Cook’s Crab Studio in London
✅ Founding a company from scratch, without business training, and have it prosper on her own, while surviving the first 3 years in which 95% of startups normally fail
Her mindset rule of thumb: self-knowledge, determination, and perseverance, which have always led her to achieve everything that she has set out to do, including running the NYC Marathon. In the same way you reach a wall you must climb in a marathon, you must do the same in your career.
