SOCIAL RECREATION CENTER

Daniela Alejandra Santibañez Liberona joined the Architect-USJob+J1 Visa Program this year, and has been working towards finding her next career step in the USA. An Architect from Chile, Daniela provided us with one of her projects from her time studying at Universidad de Santiago de Chile. The project called Social Recreation Center attempts to revitalize an area of downtown Santiago that was previously an area chosen for a new highway. Now she is working as a head architect at ARK Architecture in Santiago.

The project is located on a highway, so it has three different levels. First and second levels have recreational programs like art galleries, computer labs, artisanal workshops, a library for the community, and on the third level, there is an area for entertainment. Due to the high density of buildings in the area and the lack of recreational spaces, this project proposed aims to mitigate the negative impact of these large buildings surrounding the project.

How would you revitalize the areas in your city previously used for cars? Leave us your thoughts/insights in the comments section below!! 👇👇👇
