She finished her masters at Universidad Europea and previously worked at Arcotectura interning there for just over 5 months. She is excited to continue her career in architecture, not only in Spain, but also over in the United States. She submitted one of her top projects to the Portfolio Challenge for the first time, and we are excited for her.

Sant Tomé Symphony Orchestra is the project that Maria submitted for her first Portfolio Challenge and it provides us with a look into how she would design and create a beautiful space for orchestra and music to be practiced and presented to the public. As you can see in the renderings below, Maria goes into detail about the different layouts and floor plans that take into account how the user will experience the music space.

In third place was Alfredo Esparza’s Cultural Center Encino, which garnered over 19 likes on Instagram. Alfredo currently lives and works in Los Angeles as a Production Manager at ERA Stone and Tile. Before that he went to University in Guadalajara, Mexico, where he was able to hone his craft as an Architect. He was a Project Coordinator at Fusion del Valle, where he was in charge of working with all the different phases and teams involved in design, construction, and execution.

In this project he seeks to design a cultural center in California that forms part of the surrounding environment and does not super impose its structure onto the spaces around it. Alfredo goes into detail about the construction documents, renderings and splits the structure into three in order to have a balanced flow between each building.
