Macarena Chaves Martinez joins us for the Portfolio Challenge with a project called the Ocean Retreat. Architect-US Job+J1 Visa Program more recently and has been working towards getting Macarena an opportunity to work in the USA. Ocean Retreat aims to create a space for structures that are tied to the nature around it, and build off of it, rather than against it.

Macarena previously studied at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (ETSAM) and was able to get the opportunity to go over to the USA to study at the Illinois Institute of Technology. She was able to work at Forma Architecture in Chicago for 7 months, while studying at Illinois Institute of Technology. Now she is working towards getting another opportuntity to be in the USA as an Architect.
