AECOM Selected Projects

AECOM, one of Fortune magazine’s «World’s Most Admired Companies» for the sixth consecutive year, joins us for their first Featured Company Selection of Projects. We are very excited to be able to share with the architecture community some of their top projects in the USA!

History of AECOM and Company Culture

At AECOM, they believe infrastructure creates opportunity for everyone. Whether it’s improving your commute, keeping the lights on, providing access to clean water or transforming skylines, infrastructure powers possibilities to help people and communities thrive.

Across the globe, they have clients in the public and private sectors that ask AECOM to take on the most complex challenges and pioneer innovative solutions that push the limits of what’s possible – the world’s longest cable-stayed bridge, record-breaking sports events, the largest greenfield port development mega project, life-sustaining disaster recovery programs, and the tallest tower in the Western Hemisphere.

They are the world’s premier infrastructure firm, delivering professional services throughout the project lifecycle.

AECOM launched when a handful of employees from design and engineering companies shared a dream of creating an industry-leading firm dedicated to making the world a better place. They became an independent company formed by the merger of five entities. While their official founding was in 1990, many of our predecessor firms had distinguished histories dating back more than 120 years. Since then, more than 50 companies have joined AECOM and, in 2007, they became a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange.

Sustainability

AECOM achieved their previous emissions reduction targets ahead of schedule, and have set new science-based targets for 2025 that are in alignment with the Paris Agreement’s goals to limit the worst effects of climate change: a 20% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 10% reduction in supply chain emissions from our 2018 baseline. AECOM was the first and only U.S.-based company in the engineering and construction sector to have set approved targets.

AECOM Projects

One World Trade Center

At 1,776 feet tall, One World Trade Center (WTC) is not only the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. Its sheer size, geographic constraints, and operational necessities make it easily one of the region’s — if not the nation’s — most complex projects ever built. In 2004, AECOM Tishman was selected to provide preconstruction and construction management services for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s 104-story One World Trade Center. As the builder of the original Twin Towers in 1973, AECOM Tishman has been working at the WTC site since 2001, assisting with the 9/11 clean-up efforts and managing more than 11 million square feet of new construction.

Governor George Deukmejian Courthouse

The new 531,000-square-foot courthouse replaces an outdated facility that suffered from overcrowding and required safety and security updates. The project occupies six acres in the city’s redevelopment area, bounded by West Broadway, Maine Avenue, West Third Street, and Magnolia Avenue. The facility houses 31 courtrooms—with expansion space for six more—offices for county justice agencies, retail space compatible with court uses, and an interior courtyard. The scope of work also includes the renovation of the nearby existing parking structure, and the enhancement of surrounding streetscapes.

Miami Worldcenter – PARAMOUNT Tower

PARAMOUNT, the signature residential tower of Miami Worldcenter, will rise 700 feet tall and will feature more than 500 luxurious residences with outdoor living rooms, private elevators, floor-to-ceiling windows and more than 40 world-class amenities. Coastal Tishman, a joint venture between Coastal Construction and AECOM Tishman, is providing construction services to bring the tower to life. Miami Worldcenter is the second largest master planned community in the U.S. It is a ten-block, 27-acre mixed-use development situated strategically between a major transportation hub and multiple large sports, arts and cultural venues and amenities. Miami Worldcenter will feature high-street retail with a pedestrian-only 7th Street Promenade. The thoroughfare will feature cafes, bars, restaurants and boutique retail shops.
