Fall is upon us! July was full of incredible talent, and now we have the 🔝 talent of August!!! Who do you think was the best?

Our second month had our highest like count, what will the third month of Architect-US Portfolio Challenge provide!! 👀👀

With 8 artists’ work being presented throughout the month on all of our different platforms, we have the final winner with the most likes on Instagram!!

The winner of the $30 Amazon Gift Card for this month, the month of August is… Fernanda Azevedo!!! 🥳🥳👍👍🔝 Harboring Island garnered the most likes on Instagram with 253 likes in August!! 👀👀 Azevedo came 3 likes away from last month’s winner Yi Jun Aston‘s The Hive @ Sydney, Australia, which got 256 likes on Instagram over the month of July!

Azevedo submitted their project for their Thesis studies at Politecnico di Milano, Azevedo received a grade of 7/8 . They have worked at Relativity Architects for a year before! Azevedo has been interested in understanding how design is informed by communities and the way we experience our lives. Within America it has been widely discussed that community trust is low and community involvement must be promoted. Azevedo proposal outlines how Architecture can design for community interaction.

In second place was Giulia Pierotti‘s Living on the Edge with 241 likes on Instagram. Pierotti received the «Michele Silvers Award» as one of the best Master Thesis on International architectural projects. Pierotti attended the  Politecnico di Milano and now she is working in New York City with Space4Architecture.

In third place was Arturo Rodriguez Lopez‘s Maria’s Carnival Machine with 238 likes on Instagram. Lopez focuses on creating the space for a sustainable environment in which the Carnival in Ponce, Puerto Rico can take place. He designs with the negative impact of Hurricane Maria in mind. Lopez was able to experience the architectural world in Bangkok in 2015 with Silpakorn University and Tunghai University. He is now working in California at HMC Architects.

In fourth place was Fraser Morrison‘s A Rubbish Tower with 175 likes on Instagram. Morrison attempts to explore what it means to build vertical and how we can create new forms of environmentally positive architecture that benefit people and society. Rubbish Tower has been exhibited at The Royal Institute of British Architects, and has been published in journals and Citizen Magazine.

In fifth place was Carlos Gómez De Agüero’SMART UNIVERSITY with 159 likes on InstagramAgüero created these beautiful drafts that show how a university can be designed that uses Internet 4.0 and other smart devices to assist in the health of the students. Agüero created this project for his final thesis at CEU Monteprincipe, and he has now been working at Jordan Parnass Digital Architecture since February of this year!! 🙌🙌

In sixth place was Sanae Khalil‘s An Open Atrium to the City with 137 likes on Instagram. Khalil got an offer from FAR+DANG at the start of the year, and they previously worked at Luis Vidal Architects as an Architectural Designer. The project is the legal property of Luis Vidal arquitectos, and Khalil got the chance to form a part of the team that designed said project. Sanae has also been involved and helped develop international projects in the United States, Dominican Republic, and Spain.

In seventh place was Francesca Paola Montella‘s Tischchen Computer with 71 likes on Instagram. She had worked as an Intern for 6 months at the Berlin-based Tamandua, and worked along with Founder Ferdinand Schmelzer.
