Grace Farms – SANAA’s building!

These past days have been really sunny in New York, and it was very nice because last week snowed, and everything looks so beautiful! This is why I decided to take a trip on Sunday, since Monday was President’s Day and we had holiday at the office.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been wanting to go to Grace Farms, a cultural and community center for people to experience nature, arts and a lot of other gathering events in New Canaan. The River Building, the principal building of the whole center, has been designed by SANAA (Pritzker award winning architecture firm). The River has a lot of different spaces under its meandering roof: The Commons (common area with a small restaurant – great food and price!), and then a Library, a Court and an Auditorium.

Architecturally and as an experience itself is something I would recommend to anyone living in NYC. It is just an hour and a half away by train, and it is truly an amazing building. Nearby, you can also find the Glass House by Philip Johnson, but at this time of the year it is closed, and so, I could not visit it.

Anyway, another trip on my bucket list for the summer! 🙂
