Pre-departure

Hey guys, I am Toshinsouke Matsuki. I would like to introduce my background and process for this program.

I am 29 years old and from Japan. I will come to New York City to work at the local architectural design office as an Architectural Designer from a few days later. Before this program, I was working at the Japanese local office in Tokyo and mainly designed for the skyscraper/commercial building/office building and hotel so on.

I decided to come to New York reason why there are many possibilities and opportunities to grow up as a professional and I am exactly expecting that it will be a great experience for my career that my architectural and English skills would be impressed to work with many local designers and environments. So I would like to communicate with everybody effectively not only architectural things but also casual conversation.

The most difficult thing for preparation was paper works for the government. Because it has many sensitive things to be allowed by the government also with the schedule. So you have to always care for this process. However, it is really important that you should believe in success to get the American Dream !!!

Through some job interviews with the local architectural firm and feed-back, the portfolio and CV should be simple and clear what you want them to show your ability. Then it would be better to think of the best strategy to appeal your strong point. This process is the most important to know yourself deeply. If you can not understand yourself, it is difficult to tell an interviewer what is your strong point. Additionally, I recommend that you should be better to see some projects on-site. Then, you can ask some questions or comments with your previous architectural experience and background.

Thank you very much.
