It’s hard to believe that my first month in the United States has already flown by! Looking back, I remember how nervous and excited I was before getting on the plane. Now, I can honestly say that this experience has already exceeded my expectations.
The biggest highlight so far has definitely been my internship. From day one, everyone at the firm has been incredibly welcoming and supportive, making me feel at home right away. I was eager to gain hands-on experience, and I’ve already had the opportunity to contribute to real projects while learning from talented professionals. Every day brings something new, and it’s exciting to see how architecture is practiced in a different country.
Outside the office, I’ve also settled into my new routine in Montclair much faster than I expected. It’s such a charming town, with beautiful streets, great cafés, and a really friendly atmosphere. After only a month, it already feels familiar, and I’ve enjoyed getting to know the area little by little.
Of course, one of the best parts of living here is being so close to New York City. Whenever I have some free time, I take the train into Manhattan and spend the day exploring. I’ve already been lucky enough to visit some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, and every visit feels different. No matter how many times I go, there’s always something new to discover.
One thing I definitely wasn’t prepared for was the weather! So far, it’s been completely unpredictable. One day it’s sunny and incredibly hot, and the next there’s a heavy thunderstorm out of nowhere. I’ve quickly learned that checking the weather forecast before leaving the house is essential, and even then, it’s probably a good idea to bring an umbrella just in case!
Looking back at this first month, I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity. I’ve already learned so much, both professionally and personally, and I know this is only the beginning. I’m excited to continue growing, exploring new places, and making the most of every moment over the coming months.
I can’t wait to share more adventures with you soon!
