I’m Daniela Garcia, a 26-year-old architect with background in the architecture industry and residential design. I started my academic journey with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas in Lima, Peru. Throughout my career, I’ve gained valuable experience working on a variety of architectural projects, mixing creativity with technical know-how to deliver awesome solutions and final documentations.
Before participating into Architect-Us, I was a bit worried about the whole job and visa application process—like, how long it would take, the veracity of the program and all the visa process. But thanks to the meticulous preparation and guidance from Architect-Us, I went through it all with confidence and feeling secure. I heard about Architect-Us while I was looking for master’s degrees through a blog of foreign universities. I read from them and their outstanding capacities to place international talent. They accompanied me very smoothly through the interview process with the host companies, the visa processing and all-around support really made my transition super easy.
The Embassy appointment was very quick and direct. I got to talk about the program I was going to participate and that was basically the only interaction between me and the embassy staff, before receiving the apporval. Also, I shared my insights on design practices and showed off how my portfolio and cv will nourish from the Americans’ architectural trends and experience I will learn there.
Getting through Architect-Us was the perfect fit for me, combining my academic chops, project experience, and their proactive network. I’m excited about what Architect-Us has on its way for me — participating into important projects, collaborating with diverse teams, and all there is to know about global design practices. I can’t wait to level up my skills in sustainable architecture and build lasting pro connections in the U.S. architectural scene.
Right now, I am weeks away from arriving in NYC to work with Nelligan White Architects. I couldn’t be more excited, happy and above grateful to Architect-US.
