Intervention in the Bay of Pasajes

Guillermo del Rio joined our Architect-US Job+J1 Visa Program and was quickly able to get work in the USA at Corgan. Last time he submitted a project called Office Building to the Portfolio Challenge, and this time around he is providing the community with his project called Intervention in the Bay of Pasajes.

Office Building provided us with a look into how Guillermo would design an office space that centers around the nature within the structure, while this time around Intervention in the Bay of Pasajes aims to intervene in an area that is unstable due to the surrounding terrain.

Guillermo was able to design residential buildings and other useful structures for the community, while at the same time reinforcing the weaker terrains that are exposed to this ever-changing environment. Similar to earthquake zones, architects must be aware of how their structure may impact the surrounding stability of the region.

While he landed at Corgan in Los Angeles at the onset of his adventure, a couple months into his experience he had to find a new job, and now he is working at McGinnis Chen Associates in San Francisco after being let go from due to the economic downturn caused by the pandemic. Now he is looking forward to getting ahead in the Bay Area and eventually start his own firm.

[Let us also share your great work with our Community and participate in the Portfolio Challenge today.]
