History and Culture of FXCollaborative

FXCollaborative is a architecture, interiors, and planning design firm based out of New York City. Since it’s founding in 1978, the firm has been able to make the most of their broad experience to enrich the world with intelligent, thoughtful, and beautiful design. The firm’s holistic approach integrates client aspirations, an urban sensibility, and a celebration of the craft of building.

FXCollaborative has been a trailblazer at the forefront of the green building movement since its founding over 35 years ago. Back then, Principal Bruce Fowle was able to design solar-responsive, naturally-ventilated homes. By the 1990s, the firm redefined sustainable design with their first green high-rise in Shanghai, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (1992); and in New York, the Condé Nast Building at 4 Times Square (1999).

FXCollaborative is able to provide the flexible design ideas that their clients require by having a texture of varying beliefs, values, and backgrounds that inform how they see the world, and are at the very core of their ability to serve their clients and community. They are always seeking to incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives and a feeling of belonging within all facets of our practice.

Architect-US J1 Visa Participants

Alejandro Tintore King

Architect-US helps young international talent find internships or training opportunities in the United States based on their background and interests. Architect-US provided leadership, guidance, and support to FXCollaborative in securing a visa for Alejandro Tintore King—a student from Spain studying at the City College of New York—which allowed him to work at their firm as an intern trainee for one year. During his time at FXCollaborative, Alejandro become an integral part of their team and made significant contributions to several projects within their urban design and planning studio.

This new, 34-story, tower has been crafted to meet the ethos of today’s creative enterprises. The building is organized to promote social and natural connectivity; a strategically-located side core and column-free, exposed structure allows for wide-open work environments without obstruction and surrounded by daylight. Connectedness is further enhanced by interior atria, exterior terraces and three «super-floors» incorporating higher ceiling heights, amenity spaces and exterior loggias. Rejecting the conventional all-glass formulation, the design is a contemporary take on the famed New York industrial loft with gridded, oversized windows, distinctive glazed brick spandrels and exposed concrete structure.

A contemporary take on the Brooklyn industrial loft, the office development meets the ethos of today’s creative enterprises.
