We are so exited that Architect-US will be partnering with the prestigious Arquia Foundation soon!
The foundation was created in 1990 by the Arquia/bank with a focus on encouraging cultural, social, care, professional, and educational projects within the architecture, construction, design and urban planning fields. They are committed to building and promoting architectural culture, and fostering geographic mobility and exchange within the field. The grants allow an opportunity for professional experience to be combined with academic training.
The Arquia Foundation awards 24 grants to students and young architects yearly to go towards professional internships, and an additional 8 grants towards other opportunities. Since the grant program started in 2000, 411 grants have been awarded to students and architects for professional experiences at renowned firms such as Herzog & De Meuron, Kéré Architecture, Álvaro Siza, MVRDV, A. Zaera-Polo, M. Llaguno Architecture, and Foster and Partners, among many others. If you want to read more about the Arquia Foundation click here.
The Spanish based Arquia Foundation currently works throughout the European Union and Latin America, however, with our partnership, we will be able to add the United States to this list! We will send you more information on our partnership soon, so stay tuned!
In order to make this scholarship possible our first step was to identify the interests of our community and the studios that they are most passionate about. We wanted to share with you what the Architect-US community said in a recent survey we conducted asking for a list of 5 of their favorite U.S. based companies. See the survey results at the end of this blog post!
Thanks to everyone who shared your top companies with us so that we can take your opinions into consideration and finalize the studio destinations for the scholarship! If you want to share you top 5 US based companies with us, click here!
If you don’t think the Arquia grant applies to you but you are still interested in working in the U.S. register in our Job+J1 Visa Program and we can tell you how to get there!
