Third month: February

Okay, this is cold.

Forget about Christmas, the ice skating rink under the Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, the Rockettes and all the other things. The true winter comes in February.

This is the part of the year when you are dressed as an onion. Layers and layers of your best ultra light thermic clothes, water resistant boots with anti ice slippery soles and your well known face mask under the 2 meter long scarf. Even if it is not mandatory, because it keeps your face warm.

If you are feeling brave enought to adventure yourself in the freezing outdoor world you melancholically see from your apartment with a cup of coffee you´ll get one of the best rewards this city has to offer. After one day of continuous snowfall, Central Park turns into an even more captivating space. Lots and lots of snow, white trees, infinite paths you make yourself, the sound of some ice melting and frozen lakes.

Oh, and kids playing. So many kids playing.

Obviously, I felt brave enought and, after those heavy snowfalls, I went out with this Michelin disguise plus my camera. I had my own technique of wearing different gloves to make sure I could survive taking photos. The thicker ones were for my smartphone. Yes, I spoiled it and gave it the warmest gloves I had. It also had to survive to the freezing temperatures and, after several times in which it suddenly died because it was too cold for it to work, I decided it also deserved to be indulged. Lovely camera, you didn’t ask for anything, thanks for that.

In February, at DS+R we were still working from home. It was hard to be at home during all those months, but it was a good point for the cold days.
