ARCHITECTURE TOUR IN MILWAUKEE

Hello everyone!

It’s been almost half a year since I came to live in Chicago and it still seems like I’m living a dream!

I keep trying to discover every corner of Chicago although I also have time for a trip. Chicago has everything you can imagine, so the places around it are usually not so flashy. A few weeks ago I could rent a car with some friends and go to see a small city that is to the north (small compared to Chicago, everybody known that Americans do everything in a big way!).

Milwaukee is a city in the state of Wisconsin that also has coast at Lake Michigan. When we arrived we could verify that it’s a very quiet city although with a great life. We took a walk through the Historic Third Ward, which is the creative center of the city, there are art galleries and many shops in this place. We coincided with an art festival that filled the entire main street with paintings and food stalls. So cute!

After that, We went for an other walk by the lake, I looked for the Milwaukee Art Museum, a building by a Spanish architect, Santiago Calatrava. In the distance I could already see it, that architecture so characteristic of him. We were able to go inside and to my surprise, apart from being a museum it’s used for celebrations. A wedding was taking place!

On the way back we stop at a traditional tavern that some friends have recommended to us because we have to try their beer. Apparently, Milwaukee is known for its breweries. After a long day we headed back to Chicago which was a long drive back. We are left wanting more, we will surely return soon.

As you can see not everything is Chicago. There is still much to discover, we will continue to report.
