Architect-US

Very entertaining month. Back from vacation in Mexico, project delivery in the office and Hurricanes in between.

To begin with, it seems that this month has been very entertaining. First of all, the trip to Mexico has been incredible, I came back the day of September for Puerto Rico. I mainly liked the food and how cheap it is to live there compared to the US. And to make the trip even more incredible I have been accompanied by my partner. He is an architect and has shown me many interesting places in Mexico City. I was very impressed by how steep the basilica of Guadalupe is.

Secondly, just after returning from the trip, in the middle of the month, we were hit by Hurricane Fiona. First experience for me. I was lucky to live in the northern part of the country, since the hurricane passed through the south. Although the damage reached here, to a lesser extent. Fiona left a lot of flooding, many houses destroyed and everything inside.

It is worth mentioning, within all the tragedy, the sense of help that they have in this country, and the quick response of everyone to help. From the office where I am, they are organizing groups to help in whatever way they can. After more than a week, almost two, there are still many towns without electricity and water. The office has always been open for people to come and charge their electronic devices and get water from the cistern.

Finally, the work in MARVEL is progressing, and at a good pace. Preparing delivery of schematic design to start in October with design development. I’m still learning the way to work and the steps to follow here in the US to carry out a project. It’s been complicated at times but I’m lucky for the help I’m getting from the office.

I would like to highlight the activity that took place at the Parking Day. The office is very committed and developed a pavilion that attracted a lot of people.

We are entering November, and I am excited to start working on this phase of the project. I have noticed these days that the office treats me like family already. There are several colleagues traveling to Spain this coming month and I have shared a lot of information with them. I have also been going out to lunch more often and have met people I have never spoken to before. They have been coming to the office more these weeks because of the lack of electricity and water.
