Waiting for the plane to take off, I still can’t believe it is already happening!
For personal reasons, living in USA had always been in the back of my mind. However, I had always thought it was an unattainable goal until I knew about ArchitectUS Internship Program, and it couldn’t have been in a better timing.
After a six year degree in Architecture, a two year Master’s and little professional experience, I was afraid and desperate of not finding any job in which I could meet all the requirements. By then, some friends were moving to New York in order to live their American Dream through this Program, so I decided it was the right time to give it a try and talk to Patricia Garcia after an ArchitectUS meeting at the ETSAM-UPM.
At the beginning of December, I was having my first interview with Handel Architects, an architecture firm settled in New York, and by the end of the same week I was accepting their offer. Everything was arranged in the blink of an eye and in less than two months I was looking for a place to live in the Big Apple.
What I like the most about the Program was their full disposition, effectiveness and professionalism to manage every step of the process once you have been hired by your company, from the bureaucracy of the J1 Visa to kindly answering doubts and questions asked no matter how many times.
Now, my adventure has officially begun and I encourage and welcome everybody to be on board!
