Two months ago, I took one of the most important steps in my personal and professional journey: I began my second migration — this time from Toronto, Canada, to Los Angeles, California. This move has brought more than just a change of location. It represents growth, reinvention, and the chance to contribute to exciting engineering and infrastructure projects in a new environment.
Today, I’m working at SENER, an international engineering and technology firm, where I’m part of a multidisciplinary team delivering complex, meaningful projects. Being in Los Angeles allows me to explore new challenges in architecture, BIM modeling, and design coordination — all while adapting to the local codes, standards, and project dynamics in the U.S.
As someone with a background in architecture, BIM, and neuroarchitecture, I believe every space should serve both functional and emotional needs. In this new chapter, I’ve been applying not only my technical skills but also my understanding of how spaces can promote well-being and resilience — values that are becoming more and more important in engineering design.
Migrating again hasn’t been easy. It means rebuilding your support system, adjusting to new professional standards, and finding your place in a fast-paced city. But it’s also an incredible opportunity to grow and reconnect with your purpose. I’m learning every day — from the people around me, the projects I’m part of, and the culture of innovation that defines California’s engineering and design landscape.
This migration to Los Angeles reminds me how powerful it is to stay open to change. And that, no matter where we are, our work can create real impact — in systems, in structures, and in people’s lives.
