My first month in New York has been incredibly busy, but absolutely worth it! I feel like I haven’t had a moment to pause—constantly exploring the city and meeting new people. Let me take you through it week by week, and I’ll share some photos along the way so you can catch up!
For this post, I want to focus on my personal life in New York. In the next one, I’ll dive into my work life during the week.
Week 1: Settling In The first week was mostly spent running errands to get my new room in order, as it didn’t come furnished. I made multiple trips to IKEA and Marshalls, hunting for the perfect pieces to make the space feel like home. Honestly, it’s so satisfying to have the freedom to design a room exactly how you want it! I’ll attach a picture of how it’s looking so far. It still needs some finishing touches, but it’s coming together nicely. I also spent some time during the first week exploring different supermarkets and checking out the local spots. I’ve already found my go-to hangout spot in Central Park and my favorite grocery store—Trader Joe’s. I’m slowly but surely figuring out the best places to shop, eat, and relax!
Week 2: Exploring the Neighborhood The second week was a bit more fun, as I ventured out with my three roommates. We visited a few local markets, tried out some adorable coffee shops, and just wandered around the city soaking in its energy. There’s always something new to see, and we had the best time discovering cute little corners of New York together.
Week 3: Getting Creative The third week was all about fabric shopping! I spent time in the Garment District, which has so much to offer for anyone who loves fashion and textiles. I was on a mission to make a custom dress for one of my roommates’ birthdays, which we celebrated this past weekend. It was so much fun, and she looked stunning in her handmade dress! I’ll attach a picture of her at brunch, looking super cute in it.
So far I can’t complain it’s been a wonderful month!
