Hello! I am Mattia, a young Italian architect about to embark on an exciting experience to the United States.
My passion for architecture started early, at 14, I chose to attend my city’s Art High School specifically because it offered an Architecture program. I later continued my education at the Polytechnic University of Turin, one of Italy’s most prestigious institutions, where I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees. During this time, I have also worked as an Intern at two architectural firms, experiences that have been essential to my professional growth.
After graduating, I felt a strong desire to gain international experience. I wanted to challenge myself, explore new design perspectives, learn different work methodologies, and improve my English skills. What better way to do all of this than by immersing myself in a new culture and lifestyle? America, and New York City in particular, immediately came to mind. During a visit six years ago, I fell in love with the city’s vibrant culture and artistic scene. So, I began researching how I could pursue this dream, and I was fortunate enough to discover the Architect-US program, which helps architects gain professional experience in the U.S. The positive reviews reassured me that this could be the perfect opportunity.
Since applying, I’ve been consistently impressed with the program’s professionalism. The team has guided me through every step, providing valuable feedback on how to improve my portfolio and resume. Shortly after, I started receiving information about potential job openings. Of all the opportunities, I was particularly drawn to WAU – Watchorn Architecture & Urbanism, whose project approach resonated with me. I applied, and within a few days, I was invited to an interview. Although it was my first interview in English, and I was quite nervous, the conversation went incredibly well, I immediately connected with their vision.
The selection process moved quickly, and within a week, I was informed that I had been chosen for the position. It then took about two months to finalize the necessary documentation, with some delays due to the summer holidays. Now, everything is almost ready, with just one final step remaining: my interview at the U.S. Embassy, which will take place in two days. While I’m a bit nervous, I feel well-prepared and confident thanks to Architect-US’s guidance.
It’s only a matter of time now, and I can’t wait to begin this new chapter.
