From a professional standpoint, my time at S9 Architecture has been incredibly enriching. From day one, the team made sure that I wasn’t just working but also deeply learning about the projects and processes I was involved in. I had the chance to engage in different projects, each with its own challenges and lessons, and to collaborate with various teams, which gave me a broader perspective on architecture and design in such a dynamic environment as New York. I truly felt like part of a professional team that valued my input and provided constant support for my growth. Each day at work represented a new challenge, a fresh opportunity to apply what I had learned in my studies while also discovering completely new aspects of architectural practice.
Beyond the professional aspect, the personal experience has been undeniably unique and unforgettable. New York is a city full of life and culture, and I was lucky enough to immerse myself in its vibrant atmosphere. Every day was a new adventure, exploring iconic and lesser-known corners of the city. From strolls through Central Park to visiting museums, galleries, and local restaurants, the immersion into New York culture was complete. I met fascinating local people, but I was also fortunate enough to make friends with people from all over the world, as New York is truly a melting pot of cultures and nationalities. That diversity was one of the most exciting parts of my experience, as it allowed me to connect with people from various backgrounds and perspectives, enriching my stay even further.
Additionally, I took advantage of the weekends to explore other cities in the United States, which added even more value to this adventure. From historic Philadelphia or Boston to the always vibrant Washington D.C., each city I visited offered me a different perspective of the country and allowed me to enjoy its immense cultural and scenic diversity. Traveling across the U.S. has helped me appreciate the vastness and diversity of the country, and I feel very fortunate to have experienced more than just New York.
As for Architect-US, I only have words of gratitude. From the moment I joined their Summer Internship Program, they began searching for architecture firms to intern at and they were there to support me every step of the way. They handled all the necessary documentation, which was a huge help, and provided me with comprehensive support throughout these months, ensuring that everything went smoothly. Knowing I had their backing gave me great peace of mind, and their assistance was key in allowing me to focus on making the most of this experience without worrying about administrative details.
In short, I can confidently say that my time in New York has been an entirely fulfilling experience. I have grown not only professionally but also personally, and I feel that I have gained a more global perspective on both architecture and the world in general. I would recommend this experience to anyone considering an internship abroad, especially in an exciting city like New York. This has been a chapter of my life that I will always look back on fondly, and I am convinced that everything I learned and experienced during these months will be incredibly valuable in my future career and personal development.
Without a doubt, an experience I highly recommend!
