Step by step

Hi Architect-US dreamers,

Month two of this adventure. I am more settled in, I manage to get an apartment in this crazy time for real estate in Miami. Apparently everybody since the pandemic started to move here, for obvious weather reasons, specially the New Yorkers (shutout to my fellows expats in the big apple with a currently 18ºC difference as I am writing this post) causing a lack of stock for furniture, places to live are available one hour, taken the next with hundreds applications from one day to another.

So, as I was saying, I moved to my own apartment and I feel great! Got amazing views and my dog is super happy as well because we live next to a big park by the water. Every morning I get to see the sunrise, if I don’t snooze the alarm clock of course. This is one of the things I have to get used to, people wake up at like 5am, go to the gym, have breakfast, bla bla. I just can’t.

I am not going to lie, I have seen more my desk than the city, but I am happy because we are doing really good and exciting projects! Not that I am complaining, it is more of a “note to self”: I need to start socializing more.

One day walking around downtown I ended up at the History Miami Museum. Very nice surprise. I spent hours there, it was so interesting and very well planned, exhibition wise. Also I was lucky enough to catch one of the guided tours for one of their temporary exhibitions.

Highlight of this month: I got my Florida driver’s license! I had to pass both test and practical exam, but I found it very funny getting your driving skills tested once you have been driving for years.
