nArchitects Selected Projects #2

History and Culture of nARCHITECTS

nARCHITECTS is a Brooklyn-based architectural studio working nationally and internationally on new buildings, transformations, and public spaces. The practice was founded to address contemporary issues in architecture through conceptually driven, socially engaging, and technologically innovative design work. They partner with public agencies, cultural institutions, developers, and private clients to design architecture that aligns with a changing world.

nARCHITECTS international work includes buildings in Beirut, Calgary, Hong Kong, and installations in France, and the Design Triennial in Milan. They are a team of architects and designers working collaboratively with the spirit of an atelier and the organization of an office.  Their team includes members from Vietnam, Hong Kong, Australia, Canada, Spain, Serbia, Florida, Arizona, Idaho, Ohio, Detroit, Pennsylvania, and Seattle. This unique mix of geographic and cultural backgrounds helps them to interpret the range of contexts and cultures that shape their projects.

Mimi co-founded nARCHITECTS with Eric Bunge with a belief in architecture as an agent of positive change, responding to and connecting people with the environment in unexpected ways. Responding to our world in flux while fostering social engagement guides her work. Born in the tropics of Vietnam and trained in Amsterdam and New York City, she brings a global outlook and an obsession with greenery to the firm’s design culture.

Eric Bunge

Co-Founding Partner

Born in Montreal of Argentinian heritage, Eric trained in London, Calcutta, Paris and Boston before co-founding nARCHITECTS in New York with Mimi Hoang. Eric is currently leading the Jones Beach Energy & Nature Center, and recently completed the New York State Equal Rights Heritage Center, A/D/O and Carmel Place.

Maria Diego Fernandez

Maria joined nARCHITECTS in mid 2019 and then had to change over to S9 Architecture due to the pandemic hitting in March of 2020. She was happy to be able to continue using the J1 visa she obtained through the turmoil of the pandemic, and now is in Basel, Switzerland with Oppenheim Architecture. She has made the most of her time abroad and enjoys joining new teams and learning new ways to create and design architecture.

As you scroll through the following three projects they have created, consider all of these design techniques and ideas they have implemented.
