Federico Babina, an italian illustrator based in Barcelona, has released Archiatric, his new and original project. Archiatric is an incisive approach to psychiatry and mental pathologies: it depicts 16 different mental disorders through architecture.
Using basic architectural structures and with a surrealistic and cubist style, Babina illustrates various mental disorders such as schizophrenia, paranoia, autism, anxiety, depression, dementia, phobias… Some of the disorders are more achieved than others but it’s still a very accurate and graphic work which put some words to explain the inexpicable.
Babina states:
I don’t want to put a romantic aura around the discomfort and suffering of mental illness,’ babina says, ‘but rather to make a reflection on the prejudices and negative stigmas with which the pathologies of the mind are often observed.’
Babina has others works also based on architecture as the Architale series: fairytales turned into buildings of fantasy. We encourage everyone to visit his web and social networks.
