To begin with, I was told a month ago that August is the hottest month on the island, but at the same time it is the rainiest, I would not believe it. Well, I confirm that it is true. Stifling heat and the rains make the humidity rise and the sensation of heat increases.

It has been a month full of rains. August and I have hardly been to the beach. In fact, the storms have caused the sea to eat some of the sand. Many have been the days that I have been lying on the beach and after 5 minutes, I have had to run away because of a cloud that did not end up leaving.I was warned at the beginning of this adventure: always carry an umbrella with you, even if it’s sunny. You never know how the weather will change here.

On the other hand, on the work front, there has been no rest. We have finished the Concept phase of the Hotel in Old San Juan. We are now in the development of the schematic phase. The process is being very educational and we are meeting new people. And of course, improving in the handling of Revit. You think you know how to use it until you get to a professional studio where they use it expertly. We are satisfied with the development of this project.

The most difficult thing at the moment is to learn the application standards here in the US and the meetings with the consultants.

Thanks to the latter I see improvement in my English. My boss Raquel helps me and is involved in my learning.

To conclude, this month I had a visit from Spain, for the first time since I came here last December. Several visiting friends and my partner have been staying at my house these weeks. It was a huge surprise to see my partner walk through the door of my apartment. It has been an incredible week with him on this side of the Atlantic.

By the end of the month I will be visiting Mexico City with him. A few days of vacation that will come in handy to disconnect a little of so much workload these days and visit mexico and its museums and streets. First time I visit it and it will be very special.

We are already half way through the program. It has gone really fast so far. I hope I can continue to enjoy this experience for as long as I can.
