Hello everyone,
Here I am again to give you some updates on my J1 Experience at Arquitectonica! my third month here is about to start and now I begin feeling settled in this new environment. Now I have more consciousness of the places that surround me and that sensation of feeling lost is gone. I began building my every day life and this make me feel more confident. Advice to 18months’ j1 visa people: the really challenge with yourself starts now. this is the period in which you understand that you are not on a long holiday and that you are going to spent almost two year of your life in a new place. You need to be strong and focused. Only in this way you can take the best from this experience!
Speaking about this experience… Finally I can make a deep dive into the United States culture because the holiday period is about to start.. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas… the way the approach to these celebrations is unique and it shows you a lot of the American soul that is a party soul I dare say 🙂
The amount of merchandising they have for each celebration is uncountable as the stores that pop up from one day to the next that sell only that particular theme products. The consumer society machine that the Americans are able to set in motion is unbelievable; In fact this is something very peculiar of this society and it is so rotten that even for a country as young as the USA are and with so many immigrant it has the power of became a tradition, the tradition of celebrating in the American way!
Last Friday I had my first office party, it was an Halloween party of course. Today I am waiting to see the «trick or treat» parade through my neighborhood streets.
Tomorrow there will be no more space for the pumpkins and I am ready to see grateful turkeys everywhere…
