A few months ago, I could hardly believe it: I had been awarded the Arquia Foundation scholarship to do my internship at Grimshaw Architects in New York. Just thinking about moving to one of the world’s most inspiring cities for architecture gave me chills. Moreover, it was not just an opportunity, it felt like a dream that had been quietly building for years. The anticipation, excitement, and nervous energy all rolled into one feeling that I could hardly put into words.
How I Found Architect-US
I first heard about Architect-US during a talk at my university. Patricia came to share the opportunities for young architects abroad. I remember thinking, “This sounds amazing, but it is so far away from what I can imagine for myself.”
However, life works in unexpected ways. A few weeks ago, I met Patricia again at an Arquia event in Madrid, and suddenly it hit me: I was about to move to New York. It was one of those moments when everything finally makes sense.
My Experience with Architect-US
The support from Architect-US throughout the entire process has been incredible. From the very beginning, the team has been approachable, patient, and attentive. Patricia and Georgiana have always responded quickly to every question, providing detailed guidance for each step.
They helped me prepare a strong portfolio and CV, and guided me through the visa paperwork with incredible clarity and patience. Moreover, they have always made me feel supported and confident, even when the process felt overwhelming. Their professionalism is paired with a genuine personal touch, making the journey smooth and even enjoyable.
In addition, having such constant support has given me peace of mind. Any question I had was answered promptly and clearly. I am extremely grateful for the care, patience, and encouragement they have provided.
Overall, Architect-US has made the process of moving to New York not only manageable but genuinely motivating and exciting.
My Dream: Grimshaw Architects
Interviewing with Grimshaw Architects was a thrilling experience. The interview was so natural that we even ended up talking about the plants in my room, and I was able to show them around by moving my computer from one side to the other!
Their work has been a huge inspiration throughout my studies, and my Master’s thesis was deeply influenced by their architectural philosophy and approach to design. I have always admired how they create large-scale, high-tech infrastructures that function seamlessly, combining innovation, precision, and elegance.
For me, being able to take this next step toward an internship at Grimshaw represents a unique opportunity to learn from some of the best architects in the field and to grow both professionally and personally. The experience has been exciting and motivating, and it makes me even more eager to start this new chapter in New York.
Looking Ahead
Now I am ready to begin this adventure in New York. I cannot wait to explore the city’s architecture, walk the streets I have only read about in literature, and soak up American culture. Above all, I want to grow as a person and as an architect.
In conclusion, this is not just an internship, it is the start of a dream come true.
