First Thanksgiving

Turkeys and Pies, and Everything Nice!

We woke up early on a Thursday. It was Thanksgiving Day and it was so cold outside – the lowest temperature I had ever experienced since I arrived here. It was from 5 degrees to 16 degrees. That day was kind of busy but it was fun. We prepped all the ingredients that we need for the dinner. There was music we enjoyed while we are prepping. The turkey was ready to be baked. The house smells so good with all the cooking.  You can smell the turkey and there was tons of pies everywhere!

It was my first thanksgiving experience. And it was amazing! There were lots of people came in from both sides of the family. There was so much food and I thought that day all we did was eat, talk, tell stories, sing and eat again! There was this slow motion kind of moment where you see your family members you’ve never seen before and now they’re right in front of you. You will take that moment to be thankful for all the good things. Being in this new chapter of my life, I still couldn’t believe that I am here already. Some days, I feel like I am still sleeping and this is all but just a dream. But it wasn’t, and with that I am really thankful.

This experience brings me back to those days were I was just dreaming about all these and now it happening. All I can say is that I am just so thankful.  Once in a while we needed to pause and be thankful from all the blessings we have received. Be it small or big. Be thankful for it because not everyone can have the same experience that we are enjoying right now. Don’t take it for granted.
