A – Accepted!
Finally the moment arrived! The embassy lady gave me the passport and said those magic words: “You’re ready to go!”.
C – Celebration
Now is true! I’m starting this new challenge…I’m really going to New York and I couldn’t be happier!
I’m starting next Monday that, by chance, it’s my birthday!… so, double celebration!
T – Timeliness
The visa process? Was easy! … yes! An easy way of getting an US visa! Can you believe it? It seems unreal but with Architect-US the visa process was really fast.
The staff is absolutely friendly and they’ve taken care of all the complex paperwork.
I – Inspiring
Why New York? Because it’s an inspiring city for architects and for everyone! We are always being contagious by music, design, fashion and any other art Everywhere!
O – Opportunity
I think this is going be a great opportunity to learn, to grow and to make a good networking. In fact, the Big Apple is the center of the world!
N – Never give up!
This is my advice! If you want to have an experience in USA, go for it!
After finishing my studies in Portugal, I went to Switzerland were I worked as an architect for almost 5 years. It was an interesting experience but I was feeling that I needed something more.
During a trip to NY last February, I completely felt in love with the city and it was when I decided to move!
I’ve started looking for a job and it wasn’t easy… I’ve tried by e-email, by mail, personally…but it was hard, really hard, mostly because I didn’t had a visa!
Tired of having NO as an answer, I’ve started contacting anyone that I know with connections in NYC and it was when i’ve heard about Patricia García, director of the Professional Career Training Program and the Architect-Us Career Training Program.
In the other hand, I’ve had a contact that connected me to PorterFanna Architecture … so I’ve put everything together!
I went back to New York for an interview that went great! PorterFanna Architecture it’s a small office that’s growing whereI felt I could learn and help them going forward as well.
I’ve started doing the process for the J-1 visa immediately and … here I am, on the day before flying to NYC!… Now it’s time for ACTION!
