Canadian architecture studio KPMB has unveiled images of Yale University’s new Dramatic Arts Building, a project that will bring the David Geffen School of Drama together in a single space for the first time since its founding in 1924. The 207,000-square-foot building will host Yale Repertory Theatre performances while supporting academic activity linked to theatre, dance and performance studies.
The proposal will replace the university’s currently dispersed rehearsal and performance spaces with a unified centre designed for undergraduate students, MFA candidates and the wider New Haven community. With this project, Yale strengthens the role of the performing arts within the university and creates a new meeting point between education, cultural production and urban life.
