Kellogg Architects Inc.’s Selected Projects

History of Kellogg Architects Inc.

Founded by Martin Chadwick Kellogg, AIA, Kellogg Architects Inc. emerged following the dissolution of AMLGM, a design studio co-founded by Martin and Matthew David Bowles. After eight years of collaboration at AMLGM, Martin spearheaded a new venture rooted in an ethos of empathetic, context‑driven design and rigorous attention to craft.

Martin Kellogg holds a Master of Architecture from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, and a BA in Architecture from UC Berkeley. Licensed in both California and Oregon, he brings over 15 years of experience working on projects ranging from high‑end residences and art museums to urban cultural spaces and school facilities.

Based in San Francisco, the firm has built a reputation for creating refined, contextually sensitive architecture, seamlessly integrating architecture, interior design, and landscape. Its portfolio—spanning the Bay Area and beyond—reflects a commitment to material integrity, human-centered environments, and design that is both understated and impactful.

Company Culture at Kellogg Architects Inc.

Kellogg Architects Inc. operates as a small, focused, and highly collaborative team where design excellence is driven by empathy, precision, and curiosity. The studio’s approach is deeply client‑centered, beginning with strategic listening and observation to uncover each project’s unique opportunities and constraints. This process ensures that the resulting designs not only meet functional needs but also resonate emotionally with the people who experience them.

We believe that a well-designed space can profoundly impact the well-being of an individual and even society.

Under Martin Kellogg’s leadership, the firm cultivates a multidisciplinary mindset, integrating architecture, interior design, and landscape into a cohesive vision. The team’s work reflects a balance between technical rigor and artistic expression, grounded in the belief that every detail, from the scale of a room to the texture of a handrail, contributes to a project’s overall success.

In practice, Kellogg Architects fosters an environment where experimentation and refinement go hand‑in‑hand. The team values material authenticity, sustainable thinking, and creating spaces that have a lasting and positive impact on their communities.
