BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group has broken ground on its first Major League Baseball stadium, in collaboration with HNTB and an extensive team of experts. The future home of the Athletics in Las Vegas, with seating for 33,000 spectators, will open its doors before the 2028 season. Conceived to reflect the dynamism of the city, the stadium stands out for its strategic location between Tropicana and Reno, as well as its architectural vision inspired by baseball tradition and the vibrant energy of its surroundings.
The design incorporates a roof structure in the form of five overlapping shells that evoke classic baseball pennants and allow controlled natural light to enter. A large glazed façade opens the stadium onto the Las Vegas Strip, integrating the urban experience with the sports experience. By day, its metallic cladding interacts with the desert light; by night, it reflects the glow of the city, becoming a new icon in the Las Vegas architectural landscape.
