Hacker Architects, a Portland-based studio, has transformed an old cabin at Black Butte Ranch, Oregon, into a modern blackened wood and glass structure inspired by the area’s volcanic landscape. Located on an 1,800-acre parcel next to The Three Sisters peaks, the design reflects the slope of nearby Black Butte with pitched roofs, triforium windows that bathe the interior in natural light, and oblique walls that generate dynamic ascending and descending profiles.
