This Summer, I had the privilege of participating in a Summer Internship Program in San Francisco, and it was truly a rewarding experience. The fast-paced environment of the city, combined with the demands of juggling software like AutoCAD, Photoshop, and SketchUp, made each day both challenging and stimulating. It was a great opportunity to balance creativity with problem-solving, and of course, there were plenty of coffee breaks to keep up with the pace!
At the architectural studio where I worked, I had the chance to contribute to a range of projects, varying in scale and complexity. From large conceptual urban developments, like an Addiction and Mental Health Housing and Recovery Complex (AMHHRC), to more intimate residential houses and gardens that incorporated sculptural nuances, I gained hands-on experience that deepened my understanding of design across multiple contexts. Each project brought its own challenges, allowing me to explore both the technical and creative sides of architecture.
Outside of work, I took the chance to explore the city’s rich culture—from the scenic beauty of Golden Gate Park to its cozy, hidden coffee spots. San Francisco’s energy is infectious, and working alongside talented, inspiring colleagues made the experience even better.
One of the highlights of my Summer Internship was the opportunity to give a lecture at UC Berkeley. As part of the [IN]LAND Studio in the College of Environmental Design’s Summer 2024 Program, I had the chance to present on Artificial Intelligence in Design. The program is an intensive, foundational course in Landscape Architecture designed for students considering a Master’s degree in the field. During my lecture, I covered the growing impact of AI in the design industry, explored programs like Midjourney, LookX AI, and Prime AI, and provided practical demonstrations on how these tools are reshaping design workflows.
The [IN]LAND program is truly impressive in how it equips students with the tools and skills necessary to build strong, innovative portfolios. Working with 21 students from diverse backgrounds, I was able to share insights into how AI can address modern design challenges, such as sustainability, climate change, and social equity. It was inspiring to see such active engagement and curiosity from the students.

Another exciting aspect of the Summer was my opportunity to travel to other U.S. cities, such as Miami and Las Vegas. Exploring the vibrant art and design culture in Miami and contrasting it with the fast-paced, dynamic energy of Las Vegas was an eye-opening experience. Each city had its own unique take on design, which further deepened my understanding of how culture and creativity intersect across different regions.
This internship was not only a significant professional milestone but also an enriching personal journey. I’m excited to bring the skills and knowledge I gained this Summer into future projects.
