A new life chapter is about to start…Tomorrow I am moving to Portland, Oregon!
I was working as a Parametric Façade Designer in Vienna, Austria when I heard about Architect-US. By that time, I was happily working in my position and after 4 years living in Vienna I was starting to feel myself more confident with the language and the city. Nonetheless, I was calling for a change, a new challenge.
Actually, I´m this kind of person, who is always looking for new experiences and not easily satisfied. A good example is my previous experience as an Aerospace Engineer.
Just to clarify, I graduated in Aerospace Engineering with a degree in structures from the Carlos III University in Spain. As soon as I finish my Bachelor degree, I decided to start my professional career in Vienna. Under those circumstances, and because my specialization is in structural calculations and design, I was responsible on the aircraft structural integrity and airport hangars facilities for several airlines.
Nevertheless, my dream was to work in the Architectural industry. All of a sudden, due to my previous experience with parametric structures and my skills with CAD software, an Austrian company specialized in parametric façades offered me a position in their design team. Then, after several years in the Architectural industry, I got in contact with Architect-US to find out if my profile was interesting and attractive to an Architectural studio in the US.
Patricia and Sonia helped me through all the initial steps, gave me feedback about my personal portfolio and finally got in contact with my host company, Hennebery Eddy Architects. Everything went very fast. In April I was preparing my portfolio and in mid-May I had my first interview.
I am really excited about this opportunity with Hennebery Eddy Architects. I will be part of their design team for various aviation projects located in the Pacific Northwest.
Surely this experience will provide me with new concepts and skills to incorporate into my profile, and a new vision for designing. I am looking forward to meet all my new colleagues, new friends, enjoy the US culture and start a new chapter.
