first day at work

Episode 6: a normal day

Hey hi everyone! I am Miguel one more month in the blog telling my experience as an architect in the city of Los Angeles. Last month I blogged about my travels in California and this month I’d like to focus more on what a typical day is like at the studio where I work. I am sure that many of you are interested in how it is to work here, since it can be a very different routine compared to your countries.

Disclaimer! This is my personal experience. I have been lucky enough to meet other young architects in this city and I have to say that their work is quite different from mine.
In my case, the studio where I work is made up of a team of around twelve people. The daily workflow divides us into groups to work on the different projects we are working on. And although it is true that you may have to work in different types of work, we are each specialized in a specific task. For example, a group of my colleagues usually work on the project plans, others on the construction details, and others on the final graphic presentation.

This last group is what I normally work on. My responsibility is normally to make presentations and renderings that explain the project to the clients in the best possible way during our meetings. Being honest, I feel that in the studio they trust in my work a lot, since the first look that clients will see of their projects, are my images! It’s sooo crazy…

However, it is very gratifying to know that they liked it and even to see the development process of a project through my images. I am definitely learning more every day.

Thanks for reading me one more month!
