Hi Architect-US crew!
Can’t believe I’m writing this right now, but wow…. One month has passed since I arrived here and started working at Wheeler & Kearns architects! It is crazy when I think about how nervous I was before moving here, or how unreachable it seemed… but here I am, on my way to becoming a Chicagoan! I won’t lie, there have been some challenging things along the way (big shoutout to the Imperial System or dealing with the whole Social Security Administration), but I just can’t think of a better place to be. During these weeks I have met so many welcoming people, and visited so many places (amidst the cold weather) that I can’t wait for more!
The city is really something else, offering such a wide variety of activities that it feels like there is always something happening around every corner. From amazing hot pot restaurants in Chinatown (where you can find places that sell coffee for just a buck) to small and cozy Cuban brunch spots. Even with the pandemic still going on, there are so many activities and places to visit!
It is also so inspiring to be able to know the way people work here, so motivated and career driven! It is incredible seeing how many opportunities and projects flourish every day in such a competitive and active way. I couldn’t feel more grateful for being able to learn and grow in this working environment!
Every time I take the train and see all the huge buildings around the Loop I feel so blessed and excited, literally a dream come true! I can’t stress enough how grateful I am to the whole Architect-US team for helping me find this amazing opportunity, it is already a life changer!
