Hi everyone!
My name is Sarah. I am a French student about to fly to New York for a 6-month internship!
I study civil engineering at École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées near Paris and I am pursing a double degree in architecture at École Nationale d’Architecture Paris-Est. I love traveling and discovering new cultures and architecture. I am currently in gap year during my studies. For the last six months, I was on the Reunion Island, next to Madagascar, to do an internship as a site engineer.
Now I have the chance to begin an internship at Gilsanz Murray Steficek LLP in New York City as a structural designer. The firm highly recommended me Architect-US for my J1-Visa sponsor.
Unfortunately, the visa process took more time than expected due to the covid crisis, so I have to postpone the start of my program. I hope the embassy interview goes well and I can leave soon. I can’t wait to have my visa and arrive in NYC!
I am really excited about discovering the extraordinary architecture of the city, which I learned about in the book New York Delirious by Rem Koolhaas. I have already planned to visit the museums and parks, attend a Broadway show and a Knicks game. I would also like to travel around to go to Washington DC and New England. If it’s possible, I will travel to Canada to visit some French friends in Montreal!
Finally, I am very enthusiastic about meeting new people and learning about the American culture! I’m a huge fan of the show Friends, so for me, the American dream is to live in the heart of Manhattan and experience the city that never sleeps. That’s why I’m so happy to have found an affordable room in Greenwich Village and can’t wait to live in the Village!
