KFAS NEW HEADQUARTERS

Barbara Pomilio joins us for her first Portfolio Challenge, even though she has been part of the Architect-US family for a while now. She was able to get work at Supperette Studio in New York City a couple of years ago, and has been working there ever since. Now she is a Lead Designer at Supperette Studio, and always looking for new roles and opportunities to challenge herself.

Barbara studied in Buenos Aires for 6 years for her Architecture degree at the University of Buenos Aires. She is now planning on getting licensed in the USA, but already got licensed in Argentina. During her time in University in Argentina, she was a freelancer but you need to balance the different hours needed and the flexibility also means that hours range depending on demand. Barbara worked for the company that she freelanced for, and was able to work over 5 years with them, which has allowed her to understand how to work remotely. She explains that there are 3 different experiences every architect should have: work at a small studio, work for a star architect, and working in a corporate office.

In KFAS NEW HQ, the project is a design for the HQs in Kuwait, and it won first place at Wettbewerbe AktuellTOPOTEK 1 Gesellschaft von Landschaftsarchitekten mbH, Berlin and its team along with their counterparts (Dan Budik · Martin Rein-Cano Mitarbeit: Pavlo Zabotin · Viktor Kopieikin · Polina Moskalenko · Evgeniia Zuhkova · Barbara Pomilio · Joëlle Cocco · Giulia Marioni · Fachberater: Transsolar, Stuttgart · Buro Happold Engineering, Berlin · PACE Architecture, Kuwait) were able to complete this award winning project.

Barbara worked along with her whole team at Topotek1 and thus you can see the attention to detail and their prowess for schematic design and the smaller details that make up the entire project. The Headquarters itself is a continuation of the green space and parks around it. By keeping the space indoors open and incorporating trees and plants into the design, you feel a smooth transition as you walk from the coast into the Headquarters.
