Fernanda Azevedo, a top notch Brazilian architect in our Architect-US Job+J1 Visa Program last time provided us with her project called Roosevelt School of Arts to the Portfolio Challenge. This time around she published her project called Public Life. A project that seeks to create a public space for the community that is able to satisfy the wide variety of needs that is necessary when creating public arenas.
Fernanda was able to attain a grade 7/8 at Politecnico di Milano for her MArch Thesis. Currently she is working at Relativity Architects as a Job Captain in Los Angeles, and she guides her career by the following statement, «The way we design our communities play a huge role in how we experience our lives and, although the shrinking sense of community across America has been widely discussed, many proposals outlined about how to bring us back together.»

Just as in her previous projects, Fernanda employs an urban strategy focus in the creation of monuments of permanence, as discussed by Aldo Rossi in the book The Architecture of the City, the main concept of the urban strategy relies on the design of qualitative local spaces. As you can see in the designs below, she seeks to incorporate a theater into a green space that is open and the mobility of the community is paramount in the design. You can see this in the many routes that the public can take to access the center of the arena.
