Currently, applicants from the J1 Visa program come from all over the world. There are applicants from just about every country in every continent around the world and the staggering quantities can be seen from the summary provided by the Issuing Office in 2018 alone here.

As you may have noticed from our Weekly Openings, most of our applicants that participate in the Job+J1 Visa program have gone to cities like New York, San Francisco, Miami, Chicago, Washington D.C, and Los Angeles. New York topping the list as one of the most demanded cities from our applicants. Given by the statistics provided the Exchange Visitor Program and those from the applicants that have gone through our program, the most demanded states and those where most applicants have gone to are the following:

1. California

In 2018 alone, there were 35,938 J1 visa participants in California. Our program candidates have gone to cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and others around the state. A popular destination for those that enjoy big cities and most importantly, a sunny and enjoyable weather. California offers one of the most diverse landscapes in the country and more than plenty of places to visit during your free time.

2. New York

Probably one of the most popular destinations from our program candidates. New York offers great opportunities for architects simply because there are new job openings continuously being offered and is a city which is rich in architectural history and landmarks.  In 2018 there were 31,442 particpants in New York.

3. Florida

For those that are looking to learn from a team of talented architects, get to know the American and Hispanic culture, and spend the weekends in the ocean, this is the location for you. Its no mystery why they call Florida the Sunshine state, it’s very hot and humid, but still a very popular destination for candidates. Florida had 14,544 applicants in 2018.

4. Washington D.C.

The nation’s capital and one of the most visited cities around the world. A great destination if you are interested learning about the U.S’ history and viewing the famous landmarks from the District of Columbia. This city offers architecture from various styles ranging from neoclassical, Georgian, and gothic to more modern styles. In 2018, there were 12,237 participants with the J1 visa.

5. Illinois

When speaking of Illinois, probably one of the most sought out cities in the state is Chicago. A beautiful city which is the third most populated city in the United States after Los Angeles. Much like New York city, this city is an international hub for culture, technology, and finance. In 2018 there were 8,974 participants in Illinois.
