Fifth month: April

Hi again everyone from the yumny city! (yes, you read correctly, it was a very bad joke).

April has come to an end. Already five months in this big city and still a lot of places and experiences to discover! It is the never-ending city, in the best of its ways.

Today I want to give you some of these recommendations that you’d like to have when you visit a new city but that are rare to find in the sites that we usually use and know. During April, I went to two really delicious yet authentic (and cheap) places in Chinatown worth a visit when you tour the district. I went with Alicia Muñoz, the other intern from Arquia Foundation in collaboration with Architect-US working in Diller Scofidio + Renfro. You can take a look at her posts here.

The first place is called Wah Fung Fast Food, at Chrystie with Hester. We had to queue for almost half and hour, but well well well! The place has 3 main dishes over rice: roast pork, roast duck and a mix of them. My recommendation: take the mix in the big size. If it is too much for you no problem, you’ll have this great food for another day!

The second place we tried (on another day) is called Supertaste, at Eldridge with Canal. The specialty there are the steamed pork dumplings, which come with a very tasty soup. There were also some really attractive noodles and baos that definitely I’ll try soon!

I’m sorry, the duck and the dumplings were so delicious and we were so hungry that I didn’t had the time to take a photo of any of them! Instead, I show you some cherry trees blossoming, a beautiful must see in New York that only lasts around a week and a half in April!
