Hello everyone, my name is Fatoumata. I commenced my higher education career by pursuing a 4-year undergraduate degree at Parsons the New School for Design. After completing my undergrad degree, I commenced a 2-year Master of Architecture at the University of Sydney from which I graduated in October 2020.
From a young age, my mind was set on becoming an Architect. My family traveled and moved quite a lot due to my parents’ jobs. As a result, I saw and experienced many different architectural forms and spaces that would pique my interest. I also saw huge gaps in access to decent housing, and amenities, especially in my country. This led me to realize that architecture can be used as a tool to empower and build community as well as generate a better social and environmental future for the built environment that I absolutely wanted to be part of.
I came across Architect-US at the beginning of July 2021 when I was actively looking for a professional and life change but officially applied to be part of their program in Mid-September 2021. I was initially concerned about how long the process would take since it took me a few months to have my first interview. However, quickly after, a plethora of interesting job offers, and interview opportunities came flowing in.
After officially receiving a job offer, Architect-US was very helpful in answering all my questions/concerns, preparing all the official documentation and paperwork needed for my embassy interview as well as giving me a lot of advice and tips during the entire process. So, I would like to say a big thank you to them!
Currently, I am getting ready for my embassy appointment next week and then OFF TO NYC TO START THIS NEW, EXCITING JOURNEY!!
