Colorfull Walls

For this month I had very good company. My parents came to visit me, I guess I wasn’t aware of how much I missed them. During their visit I did a lot of tourism for obvious reasons. We went to Lincon Road at Miami. To be honest the street is very pretty, but I didn’t like the surroundings much. Florida has way better places to go (is just my opinion) but it was great that I checked that from my list. We also went to Brickell and that is a place that I really recommend to go, there are a lot of things to do, to go and to see (especially buildings if you are an architect like me).

Additionally, I guess that what counts as my cultural activity is The Wynwood Walls Museum. The Wynwood neighborhood since a few years ago has being gaining fame from its street art, and even though you see it all around the walls of the place, there is the museum with a little more of information about this culture, style, art.

The museum has 3 different pavilions with graffiti on canvas as the principal art, but they also have other more traditional art. They tell about how this street art style began as a way to merge art with mundane / everyday things.

However, my favorite part was the graffiti over the walls outside not only because of its scale but also because I was able to scan a QR and a video opened up with all the process of how the artist did to paint it.

I grew up believing that the final product is the important thing, what you need to reach, what you want to have. But a while ago I realized that I enjoy the process more, because it leads me to really understand and appreciate the hard work that I am not able to see in the final piece.
