FTX Arena

Hi Architect-US dreamers,

Three months into this trainee opportunity. We have new projects coming, and we have been working very hard to deliver the current ones. It is still a bit complicated thinking and measuring in inches or feet. A really nice furniture supplier gave me a tape measure in both centimeters and inches, so it helps a lot when on site, when you are thinking on the spot to mark things but you have to communicate it on inches. I think the hardest part is doing Autocad thinking in cm and converting all the time to inches and feet.

The USA is one of only three countries in the world that don’t use the metric system, the other two being Myanmar and Liberia. In the office we are all form different countries, so we end up working in both as well, for example, the yacht projects that are going to be manufactured in Europe are designed only in centimeters, using rhino and 3D max, and from them put into production.

Highlight of the month: Last minute tickets to see Dua Lipa perform at the FTX Arena. It was the first concert for her Future Nostalgia tour. She was amazing and totally worth seeing her even from far away, thankfully the sound is amazing as the stadium is a multi-purpose space so the sound system is really good for concert and not only basketball games. I was actually surprised of how fast you exit the building once the concert is done, it must be a security thing, very well planned.

The FTX Arena, formerly known and commonly referred to as American Airlines Arena, designed by the architecture firms Arquitectonica and 360 Architecture. Located in Downtown Miami on the waterfront of Biscayne Bay. It is the home of the Miami Heat NBA basketball team. The Heat have won three NBA championships. Pride of Miami, the super fans have their license plate customize with their logo!
