Architect-US
Façade of Aubertine and Currier Office in Watertown, New York

And It’s A Wrap

It’s done! After 18 months, I will soon be wrapping up my days here in America. A few days from now, I will be leaving my Host Company, (Aubertine and Currier Architects, Engineers & Land Surveryors) with tons of memories, new learnings and experiences. Architect-US have helped me reach my American Dream and though it was quite short (I wish I could stay more) it is one of the best experiences of my life. Mostly because of the people that I met here – friends and co-workers that turned into a family. They are one of the reasons why it would be so hard for me when I leave. I still have a few more days to stay and travel within America and I am looking forward to coming back to New York City and hopefully get to visit the Niagara Falls.

I am very glad and grateful for all the people who have helped me get to where I am right now. All the experiences that I had here are stepping stones to a bigger opportunities – it could be in my home country or anywhere. Wherever the next chapter of my life is taking me I would be prepared because of the experiences I had here. Architect-US did a great job in helping Architects and other professionals be equipped for the global field. This is a great experience and it will definitely challenge us in aiming for something bigger than ourselves and far beyond our comfort zones. It is scary at first but once you took that first step, it will build up your confidence, take it one day at a time. You wouldn’t even notice the steps that you took and you’ll be shocked of how far you’ve come. It is always frightening to get out of our comfort bubble. There are so many doubts in our head – especially the fear of failure but we’ll never really learn if we are too afraid to fail. All the downsides of every change are needed to get to a higher purpose. So today, I am asking you to challenge yourself, take that leap of faith and be your own competition. Trust me, you’ll never regret it.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank these amazing people. Thank you so much again, ASSE Aspire and Architect-US especially to Patricia Garcia-Chimeno, my Host Company – Aubertine and Currier Architects, Engineers & Land Surveyors especially the Partners, Brian Jones, Annette Mason, Matt Morgia and Jay Jones, the awesome Architectural/Structural Department – Brian Krueger, McKenzee Fisk, Samantha Schramp, Jake Savage and Andy Malinowski, our amazing administrative department – Kim Aubertine, Jenn Foley, Donna Hampton and Rob Aiken, also to Tim Titus, Chris Todd, Jeanette Wagner, Kevin Elliot, Duncan Rochester, Jacob Yousey, Jon Boomhower and the rest of the Engineering and Survey Department. It’s been a pleasure and a memorable experience working for the company that turned into a family. I am forever thankful for all the experiences and memories I had with all of you.  Maraming Salamat! – Gessa
