Hudson Highlands

Hudson Highlands, the best weekend trip

Let me tell you about my last weekend getaway! Hudson Highlands! It’s a must visit when living in the big apple – so add it to your bucket list!

It was a little village, called Cold Spring, that is located in the Hudson Highlands. It was really an amazing time to visit this small village and experience the scenic views and changing leaves that nature provides in autumn.

Commuter service from New York City is available via the Grand Central Terminal, served by Metro-North Railroad. The train journey is about an hour and ten minutes to Cold Spring train station. The train ride is really beautiful, with outstanding views of the Hudson River.

Once I visited this little village, at the same Cold Spring train station, I took a free shuttle bus to Magazzino Italian Art Museum, designed by the Spanish architect Miguel Quismondo. It is a private initiative conceived by Nancy Olnick and Giorgio Spanu to house their collection of postwar Italian art.

My last stop was Beacon, another town next to the Hudson River, full of restaurants, galleries… a typical Hudson Valley town. It was quite picturesque, also with river front views!
