ESCAPE TO NATURE: VISIT THE SHENANDOAH NATIONAL PARK

Memorial Day was the perfect occasion to go out of town and get in touch with nature. As a three-day long weekend, it was just enough time to visit the Shenandoah National Park, only 75 miles away from the metropolitan area of Washington D.C.

Visit the Shenandoah National Park was really enjoying, the park is located in the state of Virginia and it has so much to offer if you enjoy hiking, wildlife viewing experience or any other kind of outdoor activities. Cascading waterfalls, stunning views, and a quiet and dense deciduous forest (pictures during the autumn are just impressive) help to create an extraordinarily natural experience. The 200,000 acres of protected lands are home for over 200 species of birds (for at least part of the year) and provide shelter to mammals including bear, coyote, deer, beaver and other species. If you are lucky enough you can see an American Black Bear lounging around!

The easiest way to get there for visit the Shenandoah national park from New York is by taking a bus to D.C. (I normally use TripperBus) which is around $55-65USD roundtrip and then drive for about one hour. If you rent a car you will be able to drive along the scenic Skyline Drive, most likely the most prominent feature of the park. A road that runs from North to South along the ridge of the mountains with spectacular views of the valley and the Shenandoah River. There are other attractions in the area including the Shenandoah Caverns, Lake Laura, and George Washington and Jefferson National Forest to complete your escape to nature.
