Going to the USA, my experience as a J1

Graduated from ETSA Barcelona two years ago and currently specializing as a BIM Architect, the idea of working abroad has always been in my mind and I decided to do it and going to the USA.

Growing up in a place as unique as Catalunya strengthened my bond with urbanism and design when pursuing architecture since the beginning. And getting to be part of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in Washington DC, one of the top design firms setting the tone on place-making and digital design, definitely was beyond any of my expectations at that time.

Being raised in a multicultural family, adaptability, and understanding of differences has been something that I have always valued and advocated for. This is the main reason why I feel the challenge of experiencing everyday life as a citizen, and not only as a visitor, makes you more resilient and broadens your perspective towards new mindsets around you, this is an implicit challenge of going to the USA.

In a process full of questions and doubts such as J1 Visas, Architect-US leaves none unanswered, making you aware so that you feel comfortable with every single step of the process. The work done by Patricia and her team is truly remarkable, advising you in a wide variety of topics that involve not only the visa itself but also networking and tips to find the best host company for you. Her understanding of the background of all applicants stands out, taking care of each case and its details thoroughly.

Architect-US makes sure to take care of everything, from start to finish, so that you only focus on enjoying the experience and making the best of it. If you are looking for a change and a fresh start and still hesitating to take a leap, you can’t be in better hands if you choose as me, going to the USA!
